Thank you for your interest in volunteering for the AFI DOCS Festival - the response has exceeded our expectations!  At this time we only have positions open in the District of Columbia. The venues are: The Goethe Institut, The National Portrait Gallery and The American Portrait Gallery.

Now in its 12th year, the AFI DOCS film festival historically has attracted more than 27,000 documentary enthusiasts, policy-makers and thought leaders. The success of AFI DOCS depends greatly on you.  Whether you are a returning volunteer or new to the festival, we are grateful for your commitment and support.  As part of your festival experience, and in appreciation for your time and dedication, you will have access to film screenings and panel discussions; interact with staff, filmmakers and community leaders. Upon acceptance you will receive notification of training dates.  Assignments will be made mid-May, 2014. We look forward to working with you!

General Volunteer

General volunteers must work at least 2 shifts during the festival (some pre-fest shifts available but generally reserved for Super Volunteers).  Most shifts will be approximately 6-8 hours.  Most festival assignments will occur in DC.  We look forward to working with you!

Super Volunteer

Super Volunteers commit to work at least 40 hours during the festival.  Most shifts run 6-8 hours. Pre-fest activities will be at the AFI Silver Theatre in Silver Spring, MD.  At this time we are seeking at least three volunteers to work with the Volunteer Manager (pre-fest and during the festival).  If you are available to volunteer as an assistant volunteer coordinator, please register here and send resume to volunteer@afidocs.com.  We look forward to working with you!
